The door is a jar

ololo on Stateline

ABC’s Stateline recently interviewed us about the Condor Tower Car Park project and the upcoming launch. Was good to see how expansive the space looks on film. Maybe some of you artists can see your head on there?

griv visits Malmo

Sonic Youth Sensational Fix RecordsWent day tripping to Sweden on the ferry from Denmark… fun times. Walked (and paddle boated) around Malmo and stumbled upon Sonic Youth etc: Sensational Fix, an exhibition by / about the band and their influence on alternative culture over the last 28 years. Was really impressive. Everything from their old guitars and tour posters to video / sound installations. Saw the little knitted toy from the Dirty cover! Kim Gordon had a bunch of her stuff in it. I can’t believe she’s 56.

We weren’t meant to take photos but I had to get this one, who’d have thought a room 3 inches deep in vinyl would be so soft to walk on?

Check it out if you’re in the area.

Around the streets I found a secluded colourful wall with one of the best pieces I have seen in a while. Definitely my kinda place.

Berlin Wall

Hurben was just recently involved in creating what is now being touted as being Western Australia’s largest Street Art Mural. The artwork transcends all four sides of a building on Roe Street, Northbridge and used to be the old Berlin Nightclub. It is currently Artrage’s storage space and Marcus Canning is the guy who organised the occasion.

The south wall of the building was painted by Creepy, Hurben, Sam DeSouza and Jodee Knowles. That’s a lot of leaves Creepy!

There’s some talk of lightboxes being installed amongst the artwork. Go Perth!

Club Capitol

We were commissioned to paint the front wall of Capitol nightclub for the McKenna Bourbon launch. Lets just say that this project was an important lesson learned shall we?

Hurben’s Rorschachs

web_badge

In 2005, Hurben went on a rampage and adhered his abstract paintings to the streets of Perth. The name ‘rorschach’ only came about in the second wave of paintings which were all symmetrical. The paintings have been described as flora and fauna which have been technologically modified. If you were lucky enough to be one of the few people to have been taken on a late-night tour of the artworks by Hurben himself, you know his incentive wasn’t vandalism, but to conjur thought and imagination in the general public.

If there is that much room for advertising, why can’t a portion of it be for artwork?
