We were delighted to have participated in the 2009 Melbourne Stencil Festival. The Festival took place across two venues, the Yarra Sculpture Gallery and the Collingwood Underground. The Sculpture Gallery was host to an exhibition full of stencil-driven artworks and the Underground space focused on site-specific sculpture and aerosol work, as well as residencies and workshops.
We submitted our ‘Conspiracy’ works into the Sculpture Gallery exhibition and on arrival, we were given a van to paint. We then proceeded to wrap the van in rope-parrots. As well as churning out a few other stencil artworks for the final day auction, Shensing and Hurben painted a childish tale of a reptilian enamoured with a surly fowl.
Melbourne is a city very much alive with culture, the street-art competes effectively with the advertising and the food is delicious and cared for. We will be going back very soon.
