Melbourne Stencil Festival 2009

msf_badgeWe were delighted to have participated in the 2009 Melbourne Stencil Festival. The Festival took place across two venues, the Yarra Sculpture Gallery and the Collingwood Underground. The Sculpture Gallery was host to an exhibition full of stencil-driven artworks and the Underground space focused on site-specific sculpture and aerosol work, as well as residencies and workshops.

We submitted our ‘Conspiracy’ works into the Sculpture Gallery exhibition and on arrival, we were given a van to paint. We then proceeded to wrap the van in rope-parrots. As well as churning out a few other stencil artworks for the final day auction, Shensing and Hurben painted a childish tale of a reptilian enamoured with a surly fowl.

Melbourne is a city very much alive with culture, the street-art competes effectively with the advertising and the food is delicious and cared for. We will be going back very soon.

We got some time-lapse and added Philly Blunt music to it.

Perth Fashion Festival

pff_badgeWe were asked to pretty up the interior of the Gasworks building for the huge 2009 Perth Fashion Festival. Together with THNK, Mr Ben, Sam Knest, HI8US, Jodee Knowles and Sam Desouza we created a zany array of fashionable artwork. Particularly fond of the way the ‘sock-puppet’ grins down at the catwalk models as they enter and exit the catwalk. Oh and please forgive the quality of the photos, not sure where my camera is.. snif!

RTR Mural

rtr-logoGriv and Hurben contributed to the artwork painted on the rear wall of RTRfm radio (http://www.rtrfm.com.au/) this last weekend. Also on board were THNK, Timothy Rollin, Sean Morris, Pete Long, Deph 1 and of course, RegID for organising the whole thing! Thanks guys! Looks beau-ti-ful!

Condor Tower Carpark

The Carpark

Theme
There are 5 levels and we have developed a theme for the carpark based on the elemental planes of Earth, they are as follows:

  • Space
  • Sky
  • Land
  • Underwater
  • Core

‘Land’ and ‘Sky’ levels incorporate private garages and are twice as large as the other levels. The ‘Core’ is half-sized and in the dank depths of the ground. There are also rumours of another level above ‘Space’ entitled ‘Heavens’.

Structure
The Condor Tower is that lime-yellow building you may have noticed ‘pop’ up recently, garnishing Perth’s crane-ridden skyline. The carpark is mostly underground, with the ‘Core’ level actually being below the water level.

What Next?
We intend to document the Condor Tower Carpark project, so if you are a filmmaker/photographer and wish to help out, email us and we’ll organise a good time.

Berlin Wall

Hurben was just recently involved in creating what is now being touted as being Western Australia’s largest Street Art Mural. The artwork transcends all four sides of a building on Roe Street, Northbridge and used to be the old Berlin Nightclub. It is currently Artrage’s storage space and Marcus Canning is the guy who organised the occasion.

The south wall of the building was painted by Creepy, Hurben, Sam DeSouza and Jodee Knowles. That’s a lot of leaves Creepy!

There’s some talk of lightboxes being installed amongst the artwork. Go Perth!
